Which seed to buy

Black oil sunflower is the all-rounder.

4 min read

Choosing the right seed means less waste and more birds.

Good choices

  • Black oil sunflower: attracts the widest variety
  • Nyjer: goldfinches, in a feeder with small ports
  • Safflower: cardinals, and less popular with squirrels
  • White millet: sparrows, juncos and doves on platforms
